Types of Family Court Records in Craig County
The Craig County District Court handles several types of family cases. Divorce (dissolution of marriage) is the most common. Under Title 43 of the Oklahoma Statutes, both fault and no-fault grounds are available for divorce. Under 43 O.S. §§ 118-118I, child support is based on both parents' incomes, overnights, childcare costs, and medical expenses. Support runs until the child turns 18 or graduates high school, whichever is later, but not past age 20. The Oklahoma Department of Human Services Child Support Services can help establish, enforce, and modify orders.
Protective orders give the court authority to keep one person away from another in domestic abuse situations. Guardianship cases put an adult in charge of a minor child's care. Craig County Records Retention
Under Title 20 O.S. § 1005, family court records with minor children must be kept for 20 years after any pleading or action. Cases without children get 10 years. Protective orders are kept for 10 years after the order is issued. Before any records can be destroyed, they must be stored on at least two separate media.
